As a professional trainer, you have to be equipped with professional knowledge. See if he or she had finished related courses, more importantly, did these courses certify them with credibility?
Furthermore, you might need to consider tests the trainer had took in the past, which areas did that involved, and which level did that reached. Of cause, experiences would be an important matter to build-up the trainer ability in dealing with any situations.
Question 2
My dogs used to had the following problems:
1) He cannot control his barking at all. Not only to strangers, he barks everybody including family members seeing him every day. Besides, he looks like marking "restricted area" for himself at home, no one can get close to those area.
2) He is a very ferocious dog, he really bites people, including my family.
3) Due to the above problems, we feel so difficult to take care of him. No matter we shower him, cutting nails or to the vet are very tough works.
We have decided that if we fail to train this time, we will be forced to give him up.
How will you do training with my situation?
Many people misunderstood that a dog already finished training when he accomplish the action on command; or, if it works with the trainer, it works everywhere. In fact, the dogs usually don’t thoroughly understood what’s the training about and cannot apply such training in daily life.
As in your case, it may takes longer time to train the dog via correct steps of training. First of all, you need to build an environment that could facilitate the dog to get in touch with training and learn. Then, you will need to educate the dog into training. Education, a.k.a. teaching, is a tricky step that you fall into loops of single-method directed training. (For example, you never say no to a dog, nut only yes) It cannot successfully correct the dogs and resulted in training faults, making a "single result". That’s the dog cannot work out the training after going home. What we do in teaching is not to hit the dogs, that’s an over vigorous action like abuse for correction. We need to make it clear to the dog in a quick way, what he had to do, and how to do better. In addition, you will need encouragements to reinforce such training in future time. After all these, the ultimate goal is to make your dog voluntarily accomplish the tasks on command without any bribery like food. This is our academy vision: to train dogs to be capable in performing tasks voluntarily in any occasions. We will train the dogs with variety of methods in order to achieve such goal, including methods to manipulate their natural-born motivations and drives, as well as others to fit-in tailor-made training. For your case, we will focus on behavioral training mainly.
We have many successful stories in the past that completed the behavioral training. They don’t bite again and live harmoniously with human as well as dogs friends. Question 3
I love my dog so much, and worried so much about he would get hit by the trainer or punished. Do you hit dogs when you train?
Many people are confused that dogs had to get hit for having satisfying training result. Nowadays, however, training don’t need physical punishments to achieve results, especially when we train guard dogs. If you are training the guard dogs to be brave towards weapons, how can you hit him with anything to make him scared? So, as we mainly train guard dogs, we do not use any violet method to train; but focus on how to direct the dog into training and how to achieve voluntary actions as result.
Question 4
I demanded to witness how my dog changes and grows; I don’t want to separate with him. Do you got any door-to-door training?
We do have door-to-door services. When we trained at your home, the dog can be trained with owner together, and facilitate the dog to quickly apply the training in daily life. Other than that, it ensures the dog to work out the training at home as well, not only in training venue.
Question 5
I saw Malinois & German Shepherd all around HK, what are the differences between them and your imported dogs, how are they quality?
Pedigree is an important matter for dogs, you are putting yourself into high risk for owning dogs without pedigree, just like a gamble pathology side and working ability. On pathology side, you had a heavy burden to carry for medical cost, while different hereditary disease harms the dogs’ working ability, who cannot meet certain goals. Apart from breeds, hereditary genes are another concern for the dogs’ learning and working ability, which limit the dogs’ achievement. Therefore, in worldwide championships for dogs, they launch strict requirement on breeds and pedigrees.
We care as much as dogs’ health and genes like you, so we would import pure-breed dogs from aboard with high-edge pedigree. Such effort prevents you from restricting the training with countless uncertainties for other dogs.
Can we train adopted cross-breed dogs, or regular malinois or shepherds dogs to be working dogs?
In training, we had to tailor-made suitable plan for dogs in different stages and plan based on demands on dogs. In details, from 0-3 months puppy stage, we need to enforce puppy development to dogs. During 3-9 months teenage time, we can start primary training. Up till 9-16 months ages, we have a more mature teen to train further. After 24 months, the dog became adults that could run advanced training. If you want a dog to re-start puppy development training as an adult, you will find it very difficult, achieve less; just like forcing an adult to go back to school.
The duration for dog training is directly affected by their genes, training environment and the training techniques level. Different dog breeds have varies learning ability, thus, the owner bare the risk to of training different breeds and the unknowns of the breed. The risks can be long training time and unsatisfying training result.
But solely depend on the growing stage of dogs to train doesn’t mean proper education. Without puppy development, teens cannot engage in primary training, when the dog become adult, it will get out of control easily too. Therefore, we are highly concern about the puppy development training of different breeds, so to prepare them for further training and a better training result.
Question 6
I want to get into dog training industry, is there any dog sport competition in HK ; or qualification for professional handlers and trainers to get?
There are no such licenses certifying organizations in HK yet. If you really want to be a trainer, you might consider joining academy as a learner or trainee, you can start from the beginning. Added to this, you can join programs that allow you to take further courses and examinations in oversea. Our academy have courses like that for professions, we can arrange students to further their studies aboard as well. If you are interested, please kindly inform us anytime.
Question 7
I’ve got a 6 months old mongrel at home, when he is home alone, he will be so naught and mess around. Whenever it is off-leash it got out of control easily and toilet anywhere he likes. I hope that he can stay at home nicely, be in control all the time and have marked toilet area. How long does these takes to train?
I believe that you are a very busy urban people who are taking care of a teen puppy. We know how you feel and what you are facing. Indeed, teens tend to toilet more frequently and more thirty for love and care, that’s why he will bite and toilet everywhere easily. In order to tackle such mess, we will launch a series of training to improve his behaviors. These usually takes around 4 weeks by experiences, but the actual time will vary based on the dogs’ performance and the actual situation.
Question 8
About training to "Manipulate the natural-born motivations and drives"
a) What is manipulation of motivations and drives training?
Such manipulation is a training concept came from the European training style; it aims at manipulating the natural drives of dogs in training, the process is not forceful at all. The training program will be designed to provoke the drives with games, learn and think in praises, and learn to be patient and listening with harmony music.
b) How long does it takes for a dog to adapt such training methods?
Usually in training academy aboard (like Japan or Taiwan), they used to sustain the program for around a year. Minimum is one section which is around 4 months. As dogs learnt new things with at least 3 weeks, and progress behavioral training or other secondary training with at least 8 weeks ; many problems occur like “Why my dog cannot be that obedient after coming home.”
The above proved that:
1 ) If we rashly finished a training course within a short period of time (say, a few weeks), and demand the dogs to accomplish different tasks; at the end, the dog would only accomplish the action but not equally obedient.
2) Training method can never be single-directed, they only made the dog boring and stressed, making situation even worse.
3) The owner does not clearly understand the training contents. (Just like gifting a car to a person who don’t know how to drive)
Based on such situation, our Principal would personally tailor-made every dogs’ training schedule, deign specific methods and techniques to use. Such training is mot restricted by any time frame and make sure there’s enough time for your dog to learn casually like International School students. We train dogs to learn and know how to live with human daily life and not restricted to any format (format like doing actions that kept away daily life) ; dogs can eventually learn how to apply what had been trained and learnt. These processes usually take around one section (4 months).
c) In what way do you manipulate dogs’ drives and motivations?
1 ) We will train during daytime and in different hours, we will prepare dogs with different motivational training. Starting from casual and easy learning to let dogs get devoted into training. It works on every breed of dog, resulting in a extremely quick and satisfying learning reaction.
2) After going home, home practice is a vital issue that ensure dogs are well-trained. Similarly, if you do well in school but do poor homework, it is not enough. So that we will arrange home practice with students to ensure dogs are able to accomplish the training at home, technical supports re also provided to you at home.
